“Mamou & Benje is more than a fashion brand—it is a tribute to the power of heritage, identity, and the fearless spirit of women. The name is a fusion of two extraordinary women: Mamou and Benjeloune, my grandmothers, each representing the rich cultural tapestry that has shaped my existence.

Mamou, with Fulani, Bambara, and Senegalese roots, was born and raised in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. She was my guiding light—teaching me respect, kindness, resilience, faith and love.

A woman of strength and elegance, she worked tirelessly for her family while embodying timeless style.

Most importantly, she introduced me to the art of stitching, instilling in me the belief that my hands could create something meaningful. She saw my potential before I even understood it myself.

Benje, short for Benjeloune, was of Senegalese and Moroccan heritage, she was born and raised in Saint Louis, Senegal. She represents the northern culture of Africa—a part of my identity that I did not grow up in but feel deeply connected to. 

Though I never met her, I have always felt her presence, as I have been told countless times that I resemble her in both looks and spirit. She represents discovery and innovation, the constant pursuit of understanding and embracing one’s roots, no matter where life takes them. The Mamou & Benje logo embodies this connection to heritage, featuring a powerful symbol from Mandingue culture—one that represents strength, resilience, and self-determination. It is a reminder that power is not only inherited but also created through our journey and identity.”
